Situated on two acres of lush landscaping, this original mid-century modern home was built in 1959. Friend was tasked with designing an addition that playfully integrated with the existing slope and minimalistic forms of the existing house.

By space planning strategically with clear circulation, Friend was able to re-appropriate square footage to add two bedrooms, a gym, playroom and new bathroom with the addition and partial renovation to the lower level. It also provides a private deck extension that is accessible from the main level and includes a discrete spiral staircase that brings you down to backyard level.
